IMWAYR: May I Say, “Ditto?”

IMWAYR is a weekly blog hop with kid lit co-hosts Jennifer from Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee and Ricki from Unleashing Readers. The original IMWAYR, with an adult literature focus, was started by Sheila at Book Journeys and is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. It’s a great way to share what you’re reading and get recommendations from others. We encourage you to write your own post sharing what you’re reading, link up, leave a comment, and support other IMWAYR bloggers by visiting and commenting on at least three of the other linked blogs each week.

May I say, “Ditto?” I’m still reading some excellent titles I started last week — I’m savoring the experiences.

Physical Books: This week I’m finishing Blended by Sharon Draper and playing with vocabulary using Absurd Words: A Kids’ Fun and Hilarious Vocabulary Builder for Future Word Nerds by Tara Lazar.

Libro.fm: I’m finishing African Icons: Ten People Who Shaped History by Tracey Baptiste. My students, colleagues, and I were laughing out loud (LOL) when we read the chapter about Amanirenas (no spoilers!).

NetGalley: I’m still reading Sofia Acosta Makes a Scene by Emma Otheguy. This is such a great book! I’m sure I’ll need a few copies for the library. The main character is already my favorite of 2022.

Have a great week! It’s time to read!

It’s Monday! What are YOU reading?

  1. Sofia Acosta sounds good, Jennifer & now you’ve intrigued me about African Icons. I hope I can find it! Happy Reading this week!

  2. What a wonderful set of books you’ve been reading, Jennifer—and it’s great that you haven’t finished a few, because that’s just more time to savor them and stay in those delightful universes! (And I scrolled back up and saw you used that exact word, “savor,” so I suppose we’re in agreement!) I actually just saw Blended at the bookstore but didn’t grab a copy—but Draper is a great author, and I should try to track down her sequel to Out of My Mind! And Sofia Acosta Makes a Scene is one I actually hadn’t seen before, but it’s wonderful that the protagonist is so compelling. Thanks so much for the wonderful post!

  3. I agree with Linda, Sofia Acosta sounds good. I’ll be looking forward to reading what you think of Blended. I liked it, but had serious issues with parts of it.

  4. I’m so glad to learn of Absurd Words – looks like such fun! And I have African Icons, but now you’re making me want to start it TODAY. Thank you for a great post, Jennifer!!
