Slice of Life Tuesday: Just write it!

I worked all day (every period full of life and middle school drama) and met up with a former colleague after school (always nice to catch up). When I got home I did some laundry, put the dishes away, talked to my husband for a while, and started watching the Cubs. But there’s one thing I didn’t do today…

I didn’t write.

So, there I was, scrolling through Facebook and Twitter, all the while thinking, “I should write my Slice today. I need to get that done.” I watched more TV, and checked my email. Then I opened Twitter again. After all day, here’s what I found:

So here I am, typing my Slice. Sometimes you need a good kick in the butt. Thank you, Jess Keating and Kelly Gallagher, for motivating me to write tonight. Now I intend to watch more of the Cubs, but I’m more likely to fall asleep within the hour.

  1. Bravo for keeping your slicing streak alive in the midst of a jammed day. As for the Cubs keeping their playoff hopes alive… TBD.

  2. Words on the page … Every word matters! Watching the Cubs as I type with fingers and toes crossed!

  3. It’s always a challenge to try and keep up with everything, but rewarding to know you can always squeeze in some time to write a slice of your life! That’s important, and I’m glad that despite the busy day you took some time to write as well as watch the Cubs.

  4. Hooray for showing up! I love the tweet from Gallagher that simply says, “Get words on the page.” So simple. So challenging. So true!

  5. Isn’t it great when the universe gives you what you need? Keep writing, Jennifer!

  6. I guess that was definitely a sign! It’s amazing how just getting a few words down helps. That’s why I have about 35 (no kidding) drafts in my blog. I think of something, write a sentence, and then hopefully return to it one day. Thanks for posting!

  7. This is a good reminder. I walked away from writing when things got busy, around the time you posted this. I regret it. And I even saw those trees by Kelly Gallagher!

Thanks for the vulnerability and encouragement!
